| I had a group of people from a web development company do an arbitrary pose for me to test this theory. In the work "The Byte Studios" the grid not only defined the physical position of the employees and owner but also the emotional position (where they are in space and their relationship they have to one another). The fading seated person in front of the grid looking off into the distance is the owner and entrepreneur of the company. He instinctively chose a seated position in front. I felt his position shows a separation, possibly of his task as the owner. All the people standing in back of the grid are his employees. When the piece was completed I was in a conversation with the owner and discovered the employee pictured in the center and closest to the grid is the most years of service to the business while the ones on either end had the least years of service .In fact the employee pictured on the far right is no longer in the company. The most compelling surprise was how the grid not only oriented the people to one another but also intersected the dog. Animals relate on a entirely different plane than humans do. This was highlighted by the dog appearing on both sides of the grid. I am now pursuing the study of larger groups of people in public places as shown in "Jackie O's Wardrobe at the MOMA"and "Absolution" to see the possible order (how we arrange ourselves) that is revealed in random situations by using the visual metaphor of quantum grids and superstrings. I hope in time to influence the way private and public structures are arranged and built by understanding this unseen geometry and helping implement a plan that is a little more sensitive to our connections. Time, space, and gravity have given way to beauty, truth, and love. The heart can be a type of scientist that can guide us into observation going beyond what we see, touch or smell. For me that observation has become a laboratory of discovery as I learn about the realm in between. |

| I believe Western thought constricts and flattens our connections by saying paticles are autonomous and a disconnected points in the void of space. I believe this misunderstanding shows up in our governments, the way we build our cities and conduct our business. Our civilization is climaxing in a disconnected void where the individual has lost touch with his or her connection to the environment, the cosmos, and one another. In turn losing our sensibilities to the space in between.
By studying this disconnection through art and intuition I hope to see new avenues of relationship by using the visual metaphor of superstrings and grids found in quantum physics. Physicist posit there is geometry in all negative space. This geometry is both mass and energy which interchange constantly. The grid or spatial fabric used by them to measure space has become my measuring tool to map energy within my work. In my earlier work I intuitively responded to the active unseen space by drawing or painting small floating objects. I felt that these small objects, activating the negative space, were the same as the quarks and superstrings found in quantum physics. In "Planes # 2", my transitional work, I started using grids to find connections between differing objects. From that point I've gone on to work with people individually and in groups. I 've found the random pose in my compositions, with the applied grid, revealed a host of social interaction not evident before, apart from this parameter. |

| There is a vast and underestimated connection we have with one another. Lately I've been captivated by the social interaction among people and how that interacts with the visual physical space. This fascination comes from years of working with spaces that impact people such as home design and and land planning.
We are defined by the space we live in just as we define space. This is the interchange of energy and mass. The small insignificant moments we experience with one another affect us more than we realize. I believe there is a different kind of order found in the chaos of the cosmos. The same is true within our relationships. If we allow ourselves to be defined by this new larger dimension, the connections with others and our environment will become more genuine. We will perceive similarities in our unseen interaction. If waves and particles in the sub atomic realm are interchangeable can our hopes and dreams interchange? Do we see one another as we truly are? Can someone's dream (wave) become our experience (particle) which in turn is passed through space to some else? Where do we begin and another person end? Waves and particles interchange so quickly and so often that there is no one single point to be defined. We can't define who we are apart from the interaction or energy of things around us. |
